  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt? ...Wow, already four years, though not all on an account.

  2. What does your username mean? I'm rather obsessed with gemstones, so Hessonite was going to be my username, but I made a typo and ended up with Hessanite.

  3. Describe yourself in three words. Messy, erratic, honest.

  4. Are you left or right handed? I'm big-time left-handed. I can barely write my name with my right hand, which makes me happy I was born in '98 rather than earlier, when people used to think the left hand was dirty or evil, and would punish kids for writing with thier left hands.

  5. What was your first deviation? Digital art intimidated me back then, so it was all text documents and screenshots with my old webcam, now useless since the netbook it connected to has died permanently. My first was a theme challenge:

    20-Theme Character Meme1. Forging a Future
    2. Winged Fool
    3. the Next Step
    4. Wishes of Change
    5. Pig-headed Ass
    6. Nightmare to Control
    7. Whirlwind of What?
    8. Hiatus Broken
    9. Similar Dreams
    10. Silly Times
    11. Time's Against Us
    12. Forced Apart
    13. Found You Again
    14. Hoping
    15. Broken Cage
    16. Relishing in My Freedom
    17. Superhero
    18. Starry Eyes
    19. Gambling for a Price
    20.

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? I prefer traditional art, because I love the feedback I get from the paper and mechanical pencil.

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? Origami. I can't focus on it long enough to learn, but it's a gorgeous art style!

  8. What was your first favourite?  Fantasy by SnowSkadi Holy moly, I have a lot of favourites...

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Digital art.Especially fantasy art, because I can see a glimsp of another person's world, through the magic of digital art.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? earthsong9405.deviantart.com/ She's by far my favorite pony artist, and the first that comes to mind in terms favorites at all.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? .... Honestly, I don't know. THere are too many to choose from.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? Far too much. Every artist I watch can challenge something I love, but make me feel the drive to draw even more.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art? Paper and pencil.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? Typically? School. The kids' drama fuels my imagination. Don't know what I'll do once I graduate.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? I don't have one. I like the rush I feel when a favourite artist posts something new and I get to see it.... I love finding something new.

So...
Deviantart is the first thing I see on the computer every day, and very likely the last thing I see before shutting down for the night. I found it years ago, and made an account on my thirteenth birthday, which was now... over three years ago. Gosh. I found Deviantart through Google Search, noticing how some of the coolest pictures came from this site. So, I checked it out.

It was pretty much love at first site (pun intended). Everything was amazing. I hadn't seen much color on anything except Facebook (fun fact: I don't use Facebook...ever), which was bad for me considering I didn't have a Facebook then. This site helped me become a better artist because I could compare and learn new things, experiment with new tricks and mediums. Without this site, I'd still be scribbling, and be half as good as I am now. Now, I know so many different things about art that a school wouldn't even try to teach us. Sure, we learn how to throw clay on a wheel, sure we learn pointilism, and ancient long-dead artists' names and works (not to say I don't respect those dead artists; a lot of them had life a lot harder than most of us), but they don't teach us how to love art. That's not something you can really teach at all. (although you CAN teach someone to love anime, but that's different)

That's my story as best I remember. Here are my featured arts. It's more than five, but it's impossible NOT to include so many amazing pieces of art.

A beautiful depiction of one of my favorite creatures that hails from the lands of myth and legend: the gryphon! I chose this because it shows raw strength and intelligence.

Vhachuir (Sanctuary) by windfalcon
This made my long for the open sky, and to seek freedom on a legend's feathers.

Shwish and Mordi by Morgan-Michele
Not strictly an awe-inspiring picture, but cute and playful. It makes me smile at least!
Rooftop Balance by jollyjack
This is awesome. I love superheroes and what they represent: justice.
I'll Catch You, Spike! by EarthnAshes
Yes, the fandoms enter this journal too. One of my favorite artists drew this, and the playful yet vibrant energy gets to me every time I see this.
Hungry Heart by Culpeo-Fox
This... is hilarious. Makes me grin and chuckle every time. It also shows anatomy, though I'm pretty sure hearts don't have teeth.

A simple sketch that shows something mysterious and intruiging.

This picture is stunning. Every little detail is shown.
White tiger by dragonscreative
Abstract isn't my favorite, but this is too beautiful to ignore.
The Midnight Fairy by Ashe-Star
Cute, pink, and simple, though intricate!
Big Bead Dragon Tutorial by Rrkra
When I discovered beaded art, I went kinda nuts with it. This is a tutorial for more advanced beaders.
Birth of a Mermaid by sakimichan
Mermaids. Different people have different ideas, and this one is a favorite of mine.
Pern Gold Dragon - Wraith by frisket17
Beautiful. My gaze is always drawn to that rainbow eye, so sad she looks!
Pandaiger by DjWelch
Adorable! A little tiger in pajamas makes me smile every time.
Generator Rex by dehdwood
This...was nice. I like this. Enough said.
Flower Dragon Bouquet by The-SixthLeafClover
This made me go daw! It goes to show that a picture or craft of any kind can evoke emotion!

This, I simply likes because it was a different take on something I knew of.

That's all the pictures I will feature. They're from various different sources, using different mediums, and together they show that art is more than just a pretty picture. Some are projects that show art takes time, some are simply fun drawings, while others are a symbol of an artist's intensity towards their many crafts.

So I was browsing dA and I saw a picture of a map of North America. Well, I've been on a bit of a dragon kick lately, so I noticed the outline of the continent. And it looks like a dragon mid-flight!!! I cannot believe I didn't notice this before. Seriously, go look right now!!!

See? Tell me if you can see it!

Art Peeves

2 min read
Okay, I'm starting this little thing where people get to rant in the comments about their art peeves. They can post their own, spread this around, but I don't expect this to get very popular.

My biggest art peeve is when I'm on DeviantArt and some random person behind me is staring, then jabs their fingers at a picture I pull up and ask, very loudly and impolitely usually, "Can you draw that for me?"
No, I cannot. There's this little thing calls art thieving, and I refuse to become one. Their response: "But it's for me." Yeah, and I know the second I draw something for them, they will most likely turn around and post it on Instagram, saying they drew it, or that they didn't know/care who drew it, but it's awesome. The worst ones are the ones who can't let it go. They will demand I draw them something, and I constantly refuse because I can't without compromising my beliefs surrounding art.

Okay, I started and shared.
So who would like to go next?
BTW: No art, digital or otherwise, until school lets out. I've got some super-important exams coming up that I have to study for, and I am NOT going to summer school. Besides, if I pass all of them, I get to use my mom's tablet and play on Paint Sai.

1. Tell you why I befriended you.

2.Tell you my favorite thing about you.

3.Associate you with something- random, a song, a color, a photo, etc.

4.Tell you a memory of you that I try to remember.

5.Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.

6.Tell you what I'd do if we were in the same room right now.

7.If you and I are handcuffed together in a cop car. Using only 3 words ,what I would say to you.

8.In return, you must post this in your journal
